Too often put aside, the shoe tree is nevertheless essential to the good conservation of your high-end and luxury shoes.
Indeed, your shoes live at the rhythm of your steps, some folds can appear with time: the shoe tree serves to limit this phenomenon.

How often should we wear our shoes ?
For your prestigious pairs, the ideal is to wear them every third day to let the leather rest.
When should a shoe tree be used ?
Ideally : just after removing your shoes.
The still wet leather will shrink and fit the shoe tree perfectly.
If you wait too long, the dry leather will be harder and reduce the effectiveness of your shoe tree.
Should it be used in bad weather ?
The purpose of the shoe tree to evacuate moisture, which is why it is all the more important to get into the habit of using one after a wet day !
Also, don't hesitate to place your shoes -with their shoe trees- on the side after a rainy day in order to evacuate as much moisture as possible.
Are all shoe trees the same ?
No, the choice is important because they do not all have the same properties.
Choose a waxed or natural wood shoe tree because it will not have trouble absorbing moisture. Avoid varnished wood as it breathes less.
As for plastic ones, they can confine moisture rather than evacuate it, so they should be avoided.
What about the implementation ?
Gently place the shoe tree in your shoe, it will adjust itself in length and width thanks to the integrated springs.
Make sure that the heel of the shoe tree does not come off the bottom of the shoe.
Are all shoe trees the same ?
Just like a pair of shoes, the choice of size is crucial :
- A shoe tree that is too big could deform the counter (back part of the shoe)..
- A shoe tree that is too small will not stretch the leather.
The best thing is to test it with us in your pair of shoes directly in the shop.
If this is not possible, follow these tips :
Our beechwood shoe tree is large : for a size 41, prefer a size 40.
The cedar wood shoe tree size small : for a size 41, prefer a size 42.
